A Master Bespoke Tailor, designer and creative director Maria Karimi blends the sensibilities of an artist and a tailor – creating with a sense of wonder and tailoring with an editor’s eye. The MAR Collection doesn’t sacrifice on aesthetics but is built to what works and feels great on the body from all angles. Each and every cut, drape, tuck, and pleat – no detail is too small to be overlooked. These are modern classics remastered with both creativity and care.
For this season MAR Ready-to-Wear Spring-Summer 21, the focus is on elevated utilitarian separates for men and women. In natural fabrics such as fine silks, wool and Italian cotton, these pieces have a gender-less quality and versatile silhouette that can be transitioned between seasons. The palette focuses primarily on darks and lights: jet black, ivory, cream and dove greys – staples that can be built upon. Each garment has an easy-luxury appeal that works for delivering polish day and evening and between both personal and professional hours.
Sustainability is of paramount concern to Maria and fabrics are sourced for MAR with this top of mind. In light of recent events, the S|S 21 collection features menswear suiting fabrics of the season that went unused. MAR embodies the ‘buy better, buy less’ philosophy that reflects a growing movement in fashion. In Maria Karimi’s own words,
“At MAR everything is made in-house. We create less but we do it better. Producing a capsule collection each season allows us to reduce our impact on the planet, offer unique pieces to our clientele and leave the option to customize items – for that perfect fit.”
