Maria Karimi’s creations are not for everyone. Specializing in the very high-end, the designer has mostly done Bespoke work since the beginning of her (young) career, for business people and celebrities in the art world. Actress and director Marianne Farley wore one of her dresses to the Oscars in 2019. Karine Vanasse is also a regular.
But recent circumstances have forced the fashion house to expand its offerings and launch its first ready-to-wear collection for men and women. The collection includes unisex pieces that are always luxurious, durable and made in the brand’s Montreal workshops. But ready-to-wear does not mean affordable. We stick to very noble materials such as super fine Italian linen and cotton, silk, seersucker, etc. At MAR, elegance is often enhanced by playful details, whether in the shape (and color) of the pocket on a shirt or in the red stitching on high-waisted jeans.
If only to discover a little-known Quebec talent, MAR’s website is worth a look, to dream a little.
